Navigating the complexities of the healthcare system can be difficult for patients and their families. To make it easier, nineteen organizations throughout Brantford, Brant, and Norfolk have worked together to develop an app designed to make the journey easier.

Last week, Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) leaders and BCHS Foundation representatives met with local elected officials to tour the renovations currently underway in the Brantford General Hospital Emergency Department.

The Brant Community Healthcare System is the first healthcare organization in Canada to opt for a fully managed, cloud-based software as a service (SaaS) electronic health record (EHR).

Deborah Harper thought she was getting ready for a quick shopping trip - but when she suddenly lost function in one of her hands and struggled to speak clearly, she and her husband Rick knew something was seriously wrong.

Dianna Cowie decided in 2019 to become a volunteer at the Brant Community Healthcare System and she has not looked back.

“Our emergency physicians, nurses, and everyone who works in the emergency department at the BGH care for about 60,000 patients each year so when any of our equipment begins to show its age, we need to act” says. Dr. Somaiah Ahmed, Chief and Medical Director of Emergency Medicine at the BCHS.

Last year the Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) launched a government relations campaign called ‘This Is Our Time to Build a Better BCHS'.

For our September Chief of Staff feature, we had the honour of sitting down with Dr. Lucie Gregoire, a BCHS hospitalist, to learn about her background, career, and life outside of work, and to celebrate her incredible milestone of achieving 40 years at BCHS!

Earlier this summer a group of hospital employees, physicians, and donors gathered to celebrate the arrival of a new CT scanner in the diagnostic imaging department at the Brantford General Hospital (BGH).
