This weeks Hospital Insider reflects on our BCHS COVID-19 response and addresses the current mask-friendly policy.

As part of Your Health: A Plan for Connected and Convenient Care, the Ontario government is improving hospital and community care by providing a capital grant of up to $28,376,900 and approval to support the Emergency Department Part 1 Redevelopment Project at Brant Community Healthcare System.

On June 30, 2023, Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) welcomed Erin Sleeth into the role of Interim President & CEO.

In 2018, Dr. David McNeil became the BCHS President & CEO. During his leadership significant improvements have been made to BHCS such as ending the hospital’s consecutive deficits, increasing bed capacity at the Willett, and pushing the Brantford General Hospital redevelopment project forward, among others.

On December 13, 2022, John Scott pulled into the Service Canada parking lot knowing that something was wrong. People passing by assumed he was intoxicated. Thankfully a bystander called 9-1-1, recognizing that what was happening to John was a medical emergency.

June is Pride Month in Canada. A time when we come together to celebrate, honour, and show support for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual and Two-Spirit (LGBTQIA2S+) community and its allies.

For this month’s Chief of Staff Feature, we chatted with a specialist in Infectious Disease (ID), a physician leader who provided expert guidance for BCHS throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and – most importantly – a family man: Dr. Tom Szakacs.

This week's Hospital Insider celebrates our incredible Environmental Services (ESA) team! They are being presented with the Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN) Hidden Heroes award in recognition of the imperative role they play in supporting organ and tissue donation at the BCHS.
