BCHS Emerging Leaders Program: Angela Burke

Angela Burke

Angela Burke

As Manager, Professional Practice and Education, Angela Burke is required to think both strategically and practically. Driven by a desire to create systems and environments where people can thrive, she thought the BCHS Emerging Leaders Program would be a good opportunity to step back, reflect, and learn alongside others with similar goals.

“I’m always looking for ways to grow, especially in how I support and lead others” she says.

By being a part of the first pilot of the BCHS Emerging Leaders Program, Angela was given the chance to gain new insights and apply them to her current role.

“This program gives you time and space to think about how you lead – not just what you do day to day, but how you show up for yourself and others,” she reflects. “It’s a chance to connect with people across the organization who are dealing with similar challenges. You walk away with new tools, but also a stronger sense of community.”

The completion of the program only reinforced her vision of deepening our educator infrastructure using the ANPD Practice Model, aligning our initiations with strategic priorities, and building a culture where clinical education is seen as a vital driver of quality of care and staff engagement.

“I’m inspired by the opportunity to remove barriers, amplify impact, and lead in ways that are evidence-informed, collaborative, and grounded in purpose,” she shares.

When asked about a standout learning from the sessions, she shared the power of pausing.

“It’s important to reflect, to reframe, and to lead with intention. That space can completely change how you show up as a leader,” she says.

Now, as one of the mentors of the BCHS Emerging Leaders Program, Angela hopes to help guide future leaders as they find their own voice.

“Don’t be afraid to take up space. You don’t need to have everything figured out to speak up, lead, or try something new. And it’s okay to do things differently than others — your perspective matters,” she says.

BCHS invests in the development of future leaders. Congratulations to Angela, who recently graduated from our in-house Emerging Leaders program. For more information on current career, volunteer, and patient and family advisor opportunities, visit: www.bchsys.org/careers
