CTV News: Rising Cases of Viruses

Dr. Dale Kalina, Infectious Disease specialist and Chief Medical Information Officer at Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) speaks to CTV News about the rising cases of viruses, being aware of our symptoms, and how we can take care of ourselves and each other.

“For a long time, we didn’t see any flu or cold viruses almost at all through 2020-2021 because of the use of masks, so it really is a reminder of the fact that we all know how to use masks. We know how to prevent viruses from infecting others that surround us.”

In addition to wearing a mask, other preventative actions include getting vaccines against COVID-19, RSV, and influenza, sanitizing what we are touching, and washing our hands.

“[These are] courteous things we can do to help protect people around us.”
