BCHS Honours National Day for Truth & Reconciliation

This week's Hospital Insider recaps the ceremony that took place on September 30, 2022 for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. BCHS employees, professional staff and volunteers gathered outside the flagpole at the Brantford General Hospital for a traditional ceremony hosted by Indigenous speaker Franklyn McNaughton from Six Nations of the Grand River and guest speaker Maggie Copeland, BCHS Board Member representing the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
President and CEO of the BCHS, David McNeil, also shared some words:
"It is one of our strategic priorities to foster a culturally safe and informed organization, provide appropriate care and build and strengthen our relationships with the Indigenous peoples and communities we serve. We have begun this important work with the creation of our Indigenous medicine division, hiring an Indigenous patient navigator, and forming an Indigenous cultural safety committee".
