BCHS Emerging Leaders Program: Rob Brinn

As Manager, Engineering and Maintenance, Rob Brinn recognizes the vital role that each person plays in the success of this hospital and the community we serve.

“I was extremely impressed and drawn to the fact that BCHS is an organization that is truly investing in their people and future,” he shares.

His desire to develop his skillset was perfectly matched by participating in the first pilot of the BCHS Emerging Leaders Program. Despite being what he considers a ‘junior leader,’ Rob is already aware that with leadership comes a heightened sense of responsibility.

“As a leader you are counted on daily, by everyone, to do what is right,” he says. “I want to take these opportunities to learn new skills and become a better version of myself – more efficient, more open-minded – so that I can deliver quality outcomes.”

Upon completion of the BCHS Emerging Leaders Program, Rob shares that he’s looking forward to continuing his leadership journey and may enroll in the Facility Maintenance Professional (FMP) program through the International Facility Management Association.

“I’ve learned that no matter where you are on your leadership journey, whether just starting out or 20 years in, there is always room for growth through coaching, training, and lived experience,” he says. “I encourage others to participate in a program like this to hone current skills and add to their toolbox,” maintenance pun intended.

His advice to his younger self would be to open your mind and take in what’s different. “Be willing to be uncomfortable, put yourself out there to try something new, you will be surprised at what you have been missing.”
