BCHS Emerging Leaders Program: Rabiah Rattansi

When the opportunity arose for her to participate in the BCHS Emerging Leaders program, Rabiah Rattansi saw it as a chance to strengthen her leadership skills and gain a deeper understanding of how effective leaders can inspire, motivate, and mentor others.

“I believe learning is a lifelong journey, which is why I’m always seeking opportunities to grow, expand my knowledge, and gain new perspectives,” she says. “I’m continually inspired by the people around me and I’m driven by a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.”

Through the Emerging Leaders Program, she gained valuable insights into the importance of self-awareness and intentional growth.

“Effective leadership is about understanding your strengths, recognizing opportunities for growth, and creating an environment where others feel valued and empowered,” she shares.

One of the most meaningful lessons she took away was the importance of seeking out resources, perspectives, and connections that broaden the way we lead. She also emphasizes that leadership is not only about strategy and outcomes, but about compassion and kindness.

“A caring and compassionate approach is just as important as a logical mindset,” she says. “We can still strive for excellence while supporting one another along the way.”

Reflecting on her journey, she shares that the advice she would give her younger self is to trust the process and embrace challenges, even before feeling fully ready. “Some of the most meaningful opportunities in my life came from stepping into unfamiliar situations with an open mind and a willingness to learn,” she says.

From humanitarian work abroad to community leadership and professional growth, she believes that growth happens when we embrace uncertainty and view every experience as an opportunity to learn, evolve, and excel.

She strongly encourages others to participate in leadership development programs, noting that the benefits extend well beyond formal roles or career stages. “Leadership development benefits everyone — it creates space for self-reflection, meaningful connection, and exposure to diverse perspectives,” she says.

These experiences, she adds, help individuals better understand themselves, strengthen collaboration, and build practical skills that can be applied immediately in both professional and personal settings. More importantly, she believes these experiences reinforce that leadership is a skill that can be developed by anyone willing to learn and grow.

As Program Coordinator for Mac-CARE at the GE6NCEC Site, Rabiah remains committed to fostering meaningful connections and supporting others in their development. Looking toward the future, she aspires to build her leadership responsibilities in ways that allow her to contribute to healthcare innovation, workforce development, and initiatives that improve access to care for everyone.
