Clinical Extern Program
BCHS is currently offering the unique opportunity for Clinical Externs to join our organization.
The Clinical Extern position is viewed as a transitional role, whereby students develop clinical expertise, specialty knowledge and self-confidence. Externships allow students to become immersed in the hospital setting which enables them to build on their communication and inter professional collaboration skills. As a result of this program, Clinical Externs become excellent candidates for future recruitment.
Clinical Externs will work in collaboration with the healthcare team under the supervision of an appointed regulated healthcare professional. Clinical Externs will have varying levels of knowledge, skills and judgement, based on their education level and past experience. BCHS will provide an autonomous yet supervised environment for externs to develop their clinical skills, knowledge, and confidence as they transition into a registered role upon completion of their studies.
In this role, BCHS Clinical Externs work as unregulated health care providers under the supervision of regulated healthcare professionals.
Eligible candidates must currently be enrolled in a nursing program to be considered for employment.
