What is covered by OHIP?

Not all services at the hospital are covered by the Ontario Hospital Insurance Plan. You can find out more about what is covered by OHIP by visiting the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.

Private Insurance

Private insurance may pay for some or all of the charges which OHIP does not cover. If you have private insurance, please check your insurance coverage and present your insurance card at the time of admission.

Extra insurance coverage or direct payment is required for semi-private and private rooms. Should you prefer this type of accommodation but do not have additional insurance coverage, an extra charge will be levied to your bill. Payment is due upon discharge by you or your representative.

BCHS offers semi-private and private rooms

• Private $315 per day
• Semi-Private $275.60 per day

You will be asked to sign a consent form for the accommodation requested at the time of admission.
