  • STRECK tubes can be drawn after the EDTA tube (lavender top) and before the sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate anticoagulant tube (grey top).
  • If a STRECK tube immediately follows a heparin tube (green top) in the draw order, we recommend collecting a non-additive or EDTA tube as a discard tube prior to collection in the STRECK tube.
  • Following blood collection into STRECK tube(s), immediately mix samples by gentle inversion 8-10 times.

Is this a newly diagnosed patient with NSCLC with insufficient tissue sample,

difficult to reach tumour tissue, or that is otherwise unable to undergo tissue biopsy

Storage and Transport

Transport at room temperature

Specimens are time sensitive. 

Samples should be received in the laboratory within 3 days of collection.

Samples received 3 days post collection may show signs of RNA degradation.

Samples received more than 14 days later will not be processed for testing

If required, store sample at room temperature.

Do not fix, freeze or spin samples.
