  • Surveillance Form for Tick Identification needs to be completed
  • A minimal amount of sterile normal saline or 70% ethanol may be added inside the sterile container to barely cover the suspected tick and prevent dehydration.
  • Answer the following queries
    • Where was the Tick acquired?
    • Did patient travel previous two weeks?
    • Specify where ? (town, park, province or city)
    • Date Tick removed?
    • Was the tick attached?
    • if yes, how long was the tick attached/feeding?

Routine Turnaround Time 3-4 weeks
Critical Values Result information is made available to the healthcare provider.

Storage and Transport

Specimen should be transported to ASAP to the laboratory in biohazard bag after collection.

Specimen should be stored at room temperature after receipt in the laboratory.
