Collection Information Serology: Grossly haemolysed, lipemic, contaminated specimens and specimens containing anti-coagulant are unsuitable for testing.
Test Schedule

Microscopy:  Monday - Friday

Serology: 3 times per week

 Routine Turnaround Time

Microscopy : 2-3 days

Serology : 5-7 days

Critical Values Result information is made available to healthcare provider

Consult Parasitology, Central Laboratory at 416-235-5722 prior to specimen collection

Storage and Transport

Specimen should be transported to the laboratory ASAP after collection.

Specimen should be stored at 2-8°C after receipt in the laboratory and transported to referral laboratory within 48 hours of collection.
