Temporary Part Time Registered Nurse, Family Birthing Centre

POSTING DATE: January 12, 2021

Reporting to the Manager of The Family Birthing Centre, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing evidenced based, comprehensive, safe, effective and ethical nursing care to all clients in the labour and delivery and postpartum units of the hospital.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university nursing program
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Current (2 years) experience in labour/ birthing or recovery
  • N.R.P. Certificate
  • Fetal Health Surveillance in Labour certificate
  • Perinatal Certificate
  • Breastfeeding Certificate or Board Certified Lactation Consultant
  • Able to perform venipuncture and I.V. starts

  • Excellent patient assessment skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a team focus
  • Self-directed individual with the ability to work both independently and within an inter professional team
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professionalism in nursing
  • Creative problem solver with a customer focus and patient friendly approach
  • Proven critical thinking skills; Ability to multi task and set priorities in a rapidly changing environment
  • Well-developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to be a coach, teacher and mentor to colleagues and students
  • Ability to establish work relationships with external partners
  • Mature, reliable individual with excellent attendance record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High Risk Obstetrical Certificate
  • Advances in Labour and Risk Management (ALARM) certificate
  • More OB certificate

Primary responsibilities also include:
