Regular Part-Time Registered Nurse, Operating Room
OPENING DATE: January 12, 2021
SCOPE:
Reporting to the Manger, Operating Room, PACU and Day Surgery, the successful applicant will be responsible for comprehensive nursing care in the operating room program and must meet the following criteria:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited college or university nursing program
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Perioperative Nursing Certification
- Current operating room experience
- Able to perform I.V. starts and venipuncture
PREFERRED:
- Experience in patient teaching
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- CPN(c)

- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professionalism in nursing

- Proven critical thinking skills
- Ability to multi task and set priorities in a rapidly changing environment
- Well-developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Technical:
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a team focus
- Demonstrated clinical competence in all surgical services provided
- Ability to function independently as scrub nurse or circulating nurse for major orthopedic, urology, gynecology and general surgery procedures
- Ability to establish work relationships with external partners
- Excellent patient assessment skills
- Reliable individual with excellent attendance record
