Alotta Laughs Caring Clown Unit

On Oct 23, 2001, Brant Clown Alley's Caring Clown Unit at The Brantford General Hospital was launched under the name "Alotta Laughs," with the first clown visiting the floors that same day to bring smiles to the faces of patients and staff. Clowns from Stratford, Woodstock and Brantford were present for the kickoff. Some of the many people involved are:

Debbie Kew - Coordinator of Volunteer Services, Brant Community Healthcare System

Pat "Beanie" Willows -Giggle and Get Well Services, Stratford General Hospital

Brenda "Sassy Sunflower" Duiverman - Comic Relief, Woodstock General Hospital (Brenda arrived with four members of her clown unit: Pieter "Peedie" Van Meekeren, Kathy "Twinkles" Baird, Jan "Rainbow" Perrin and Leah "Candy Floss" Hamer.

Also thanks to Sandy Sewell - Thompson Printing, of Paris, Zehrs King George Road Photo Lab Department, Kathy Cook, Amber Lea Place, Daryl Cheney, Wayne Cheney and Fred Dinner.

Special mention to Wendy "WooHoo" Warwick - for securing an autographed copy of the Patch Adams book "House Calls." This book, together with a video of the "Patch Adams" movie starring Robin Williams, was presented to a hospital volunteer for suggesting "Alotta Laffs", the winning entry in the contest to name our clown unit.
