Day Surgery

The Staff of the Surgical Services program of the Brant Community Healthcare System, Brantford General site are committed to providing our patients with quality care, no matter how brief their stay.

Most scheduled surgery is performed as Day Surgery. When you have a Day Surgery operation, you will benefit from medical excellence, provided in a friendly, patient-centered environment, and you also have the special advantage of being able to go home the same day.

Pre-op Clinic

A few days before your surgery, you will be asked to attend the Pre-op Clinic. During this visit you will be asked important questions about your medical history and current health status. All required examinations, x-rays and tests would be completed during this time. Most importantly, you will be provided the opportunity to ask any important questions that you might have about your surgery, and to obtain pre-operative instructions to make sure that you are prepared for your surgery and recovery.

Scheduling and Pre-Registration

Your surgeon will contact you to advise you of your surgery date and if required, to book an appointment at the Pre-op Clinic.If you think that you will require additional help from a nurse when you get home, please talk to your surgeon or the pre-op clinic nurse in advance.

You must report to the Hospital on the assigned date and time, unless you have a valid reason for canceling your appointment such as: a cold, recent illness, or exposure to any contagious diseases (chicken pox, etc.). If any of these situations arise, please call your surgeon as soon as possible so that we can re-schedule your surgery. Call your surgeon or physician if you have any questions about your health.
