Benefits of Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding is free, safe and protects against infection and disease.
It is extremely rare for a woman to be physically unable to breastfeed.
Breastfed babies need no other food or drink for about the first 6 months of life.
Along with family foods breast milk is beneficial until at least 2 years of age.
They also have reduced risk of diabetes, pneumonia, ear infections, and some cancers.
Breastfeeding protects mother's health too, reducing the risk of diabetes and cancer.
Babies are likely to develop a higher IQ since breast milk encourages brain growth.
