Mental Health Services 
at the Brant Community Healthcare System

Anxiety Disorders Program
  This program is run by a Mental Health practitioner and focuses on successful management of anxiety, panic attacks and phobias through a variety of means.
During the group sessions, contributing factors will be examined and a number of ways to manage or treat this disorder will be suggested.


Topics Included

An assessment of your anxiety disorder

An overview of anxiety disorders including:

-panic attacks
-generalized anxiety
-agoraphobia
-social phobia
-specific phobias
-obsessive-compulsive disorder
-post-traumatic stress disorder

An in-depth description of recovery strategies such as:
-nutrition
-exercise
-relaxation methods
-medications
-self-talk
-de-sensitization methods
-ways to manage panic attacks

Referral Process

Anyone may initiate a referral by completing a referral form available at The Community Mental Health Centre (5th floor). Once a completed referral form is received, you will be contacted by a program worker for a screening interview to determine if our service is the most appropriate one to meet your needs. 

When and Where does the Group Meet?

We have daytime groups and evening groups available. This program operates two to three times each year. Each program consists of ten weekly group sessions (approximately each two hours in length). Following the completion of this program, participants are welcome to attend a monthly support group. Group meetings are held in E Wing (beside the parking garage) at the Brantford General Hospital.

There is no charge.

Parking

Parking is available in the new Parking Garage and the surface lots surrounding it. The entrance is located off of Lawrence Avenue. Follow the signs to get to E Wing. $4 is required to enter the parking lot. Quarters and dollar coins are necessary for the parking gate. 

Additional parking is available in Lot C on the North side of Terrace Hill St. You will have to walk through the Hospital to reach E Wing.
