
Endoscopic Sclerotherapy
Post treatment:

- stay 1 hour after and have blood pressure and pulse checked
- nothing to eat or drink 3 hours after the test
- be sure the freezing in your throat has worn off before drinking fluids. When you can feel yourself swallow you can drink. Do not scald your throat with hot drinks. The anaesthetic generally wears off in about half an hour. After waiting three hours and you can begin taking in fluids and eat normally unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
- if you were sedated for your procedure, you are advised to rest for the day and do not drive
- Continue with your medications as before unless directed by your doctor.
- call your doctor for a follow up appointment. Do not hesitate to call your doctor if you have any concerns.
- Care of your stitches
- Keep the incision line (stitches) dry for 24 hours. If the incision line gets wet, clean with alcohol and apply a new bandaid.
- Avoid unusual levels of activity of the affected part.
- Arrange for the removal of stitches through your doctor's office.
- Be aware that some degree of symptoms such as swelling, tenderness and redness is expected. However, undue swelling, discharge or pain at the incision site should be investigated. If you experience any of these, please call your Doctor.
Follow the guidelines above. If you experience any of the following, you should immediately contact your doctor or go to the Emergency Department of the nearest hospital:

rapid heart rate, weakness or dizziness |
