Infant Circumcision
Post Operative Instructions:
- If the dressing on the circumcision site falls off, leave it off.
- Apply lots of vaseline to the site. It is important to use a brand new tube of vasoline for your infant.
- Change the diaper as soon as it becomes soiled or wet. Urine will irritate the circumcision site.
- Any bleeding from the circumcision site should be checked by a doctor as soon as possible. Take the infant to the Emergency Department if necessary.
- Home Care Services can be arranged by your doctor. A nurse will check your infant to be sure everything is fine.
- You may bathe your infant after two days.
- The circumcision site will likely be red and swollen for about one week.
- See your doctor for follow up appointment(s) as he suggests.
