Goals & Objectives
The goals of the Infection Control Program are the driving force behind every recommendation and action of the IC program. The three main goals of the Infection Control Program are;
Protect the patient.
Protect healthcare coworkers, visitors, and others in the healthcare environment.
Accomplish the previous two goals in a cost-effective manner, whenever possible.
The success of the IC program is measured by its effectiveness in achieving its stated goals. The following objectives have been designed to ensure that the goals of the Infection Control Program are met.
- Set and recommend policies and procedures
- Comply with regulations, guidelines, and accreditation requirements
- Collaborate and promote effective employee health
- Intervene directly to prevent transmission of infectious diseases
- Provide education and training to healthcare workers
- Promote adequate resources for the infection prevention and control program
- Act as a liaison between public health authorities and the Brant Community Healthcare System
