ABOUT THE LIBRARY

The Brant Community Healthcare System's Health Sciences Library is located on D Wing Level 1 between Emergency and Imaging. The Health Sciences Library provides a full-range of information services to the Brant Community Healthcare System's community.

HEALTH SCIENCES LIBRARY MISSION
The Health Sciences Library's mission is to contribute to excellence in patient care, health services, research, education and administrative decision making by accurately, efficiently, and cost-effectively providing comprehensive information services to the Brant Community Healthcare System's medical staff, employees, volunteers, and the patients and their families.

LIBRARY RESOURCES
Book and journal collection of medical, nursing, allied health, and health care administration. ·  Internet access to medically related sites including but not limited to:

PubMed:
The world's largest database of biomedical journal literature. This database contains literature indexed since 1966.

EbscoHost:
Full-text databases covering Biomedical Reference, Health Business, Nursing and Allied Health, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences. EbscoHost also provides access to CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) CINAHL contains citations to journals, books, dissertations and reports from 1982 to the present.

Cochrane Library:
Consists of four individual databases: Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (a collection of recent full text articles reviewing the effects of healthcare); Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness; Cochrane Controlled Trials Register; and Cochrane Review Methodology Database.

LIBRARY SERVICES
Literature Searches:
The librarian will assist in conducting searches of published medical, nursing, allied health and administrative literature designed to meet your needs and objectives.  Interlibrary Loans: Library clients may request journal articles and books that are not part of our collection.  These materials are obtained through a variety of library networks.  Library Orientation: Clients and small groups can call the Library to arrange for a personal tour of the facility.  Electronic Media Instruction: Instruction is available for clients who wish to learn how to use the Library's electronic resources.

 HOURS OF OPERATION

The Health Sciences Library is open from 9:00 to 4:00 Monday to Friday.
Staff access at other times, by key obtained from Switchboard.WHAT CAN THE LIBRARY DO FOR YOU? In today's rapidly changing and complex healthcare environment, there exists a need for accurate, concise and timely provision of information.  With the ability to access a variety of information resources, the Health Sciences Library can provide you with the information you need.
