Registered Nurse
PALLIATIVE- HIGHLY MEDICALLY COMPLEX- C7

Regular Part-time


The RN demonstrates professional development and clinical competency; utilizes the nursing process to assess plan, implement and evaluate patient care; addresses health educational needs for patients and families, and other health care providers; manages patient care assignments as well as other organizational tasks related to patient unit operations and acts in a clinical leadership role in the coordination of patient care for all assigned patients.  Reporting to the Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing evidenced based, comprehensive, safe, effective and ethical nursing care to all patients in the Palliative Highly Medically Complex program and meet the following criteria:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an accredited college/ university nursing program
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current two (2) years experience in a medical and/or palliative setting
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
Cognitive:

  • Able to perform I.V. starts and venipuncture
  • Certificate in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or Gentle Persuasive Approach preferred
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, organizational and time management skills

Technical:

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality patient care and patient education
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrates participation in innovative and support innovative practice
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Available to work all shifts including weekends and holidays
