Registered Nurse/I.V. Therapy
Regular Part-time
The RN demonstrates professional development and clinical competency; utilizes the nursing process to assess plan, implement and evaluate patient care; addresses health educational needs for patients and families, and other health care providers. Reporting to the Manager, Ambulatory Care, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing evidenced based, comprehensive, safe, effective and ethical nursing care to all clients in need of IV Services.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited college/ university nursing program
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Certificate in P.I.C.C line insertion
- Certificate in I.V (including adults and paediatrics)
- Current experience in I.V. Therapy
- Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities
- Demonstrated ability to assess critical situations quickly, to determine action needed and to make effective decisions
- Demonstrated ability in working with families during crisis situations
- Able to work all shifts including holidays and weekends, and be on call during these times
MANDATORY COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to assist staff members in carrying out the nursing process as appropriate
- Ability to facilitate staff mobilization
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team included the ability to work cooperatively with the Operations Director and Clinical Managers to maintain continuity of patient care
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a team focus
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
- Demonstrated commitment to quality patient care and experience in patient education
- Coordination of patient movement as the need arises, facilitating with attention to assessing and directing care and flow of patients
- Act as a resource person for unit staff, supporting and promoting efforts leading to the accomplishment of goals and individual/unit objectives
- Excellent attendance record
- Safety (patient, worker & workplace) is a BCHS Corporate Priority. The successful applicant will demonstrate good stewardship in the identification, reporting and mitigation of unsafe acts or conditions
