Mental Health
- Current certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Minimum 5-8 years of current psychiatric nursing experience essential with demonstrated clinical competence & commitment to quality patient care
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the current mental health act, relevant legislation pertaining to consent to treatment and patients rights
- Work experience on a crisis intervention team would be a definite assetKnowledge of psychopharmacologic treatment
- Working knowledge of DSM IV criteria and classificationExperience in individual / group counselling
- Health teaching experienceExcellent communication & problem-solving skills
- Knowledge and understanding of crisis intervention techniques
- Ability to demonstrate excellent assessment skills
- Excellent attendance
Other Pertinent Qualifications:
- Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team as well as autonomously
- Willingness and ability to advocate for MH clients
- Knowledge and experience re Community Mental Health Resources
- Knowledge of diagnostic testing (i.e. Beck depression scale)
- Willingness to represent the Brant Crisis Response System on internal/external committees, task forces by active participation
