Manager, Health Information Services and Patient Registration

Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Services, the Manager of Health Information Services/Patient Registration plays an integral role in the planning, development, implementation and the ongoing evaluaton of the services within this exciting porfolio. In addition, the Manager will be responsible for faciliating Management decisions and planning through the collection, analysis and interpretation of clinical data. The Manager will oversee the repository of patient information to ensure that legislation, hospital by-laws and professional standards and practices are adhered in the areas of confidential information including, access, disclosure, retention, and destruction of personal health information for two sites within the Brant Community Healthcare System. In addition, the Manager will lead, manage and work to retain the Health Records and Patient Registration clerical and transcription staff, ensuring they have the expertise to process patient information in a timely and accurate manner.

The ideal candidate will preferably have:

  • Completed an approved Health Records Administrator Program and registered with the Canadian College of Records Administrators at the Certificate level (CHIMA-CHRA)
  • Related Bachelor degree preferred
  • 5 years Management experience in a hospital setting preferred
  • Knowledge of Hospital Funding formula and its relationships to documentation and coding and knowledge of PHIPA
  • Familiarity with CIHI requirements, CCHSA standards for patient record management and privacy impact assessments
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data management/quality, applicable legislation, hospital methodologies, quality assurance, current retention practices, and budgeting
  • Knowledge of various registration processes including bed utilization
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to define the best solution for the BCHS, while developing strong interdepartmental relationships
