Health Record Technician/Health Records
Part-time
Qualifications
- Grade 12 education
- CHIMA certification required, with the HIMP designation
- Current verifiable active membership in CHIMA
- Current verifiable active membership in OHIMA an asset
- Minimum 2 years experience in a health record department
- Excellent knowledge of the legislation, statutes, MIS guidelines and CIHI directives that govern health information management
- Proficient data entry/typing skills with a minimum of 45 wpm
- Excellent interpersonal, communications skills and ability to meet regulated deadlines
- Proficient computer skills
- current experience with windows based applications including Excel
- main frame applications including central patient index
- medical record deficiency, locator, and abstracting systems, including Folio and encoder skills (Meditech and MED2020)
- Competent performance documented in the following:
- Quantitative analysis of health information
- Coding and abstracting of all patient categories utilising ICD-10-CA and CCI:
- Acute – DAD abstract
- Day Surgery – NACRS Abstract
- Emergency, Ambulatory Care, Clinics – NACRS Abstract
Knowledge of:
- CCC – Complex Continuing Care Reporting System (CCRS)
- Rehab – National Rehabilitation Reporting System (NRS)
- Preparation and interpretation of health information
- Processing of health information
- Accurate preparation and processing of data for utilisation and quality improvement activities
- Experience with Release of Information procedures in accordance with federal and provincial statutes
- Maintain excellent attendance record
- Willingness to participate as an active care team member
OTHER PERTINENT CONDITIONS:
- Able to fulfil a Full-time shift (currently day schedule)
- May be required to work at all sites of Health Information Services within the Brant Community Healthcare System.
