Recent Renovations To The Willett
Digital Imaging
The implementation of PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems) at the Willett is a large step forward. PACS is just now being implemented at hospitals across Ontario. Brantford General was one of the first to invest in the system, paving the way for the Willett project. The Willett is one of a handful of small hospitals across North America with PACS capabilities allowing physicians at the Willett to consult instantaneously with specialists at the Brantford General.
Clinic Rooms
Included in the renovations are the creation of 4 new Clinic Rooms and a procedure room, as well as upgrades to the four existing rooms. Each clinic room has increased lighting, new paint, new flooring and data connections for computer services.
Gymnasium/Rehab Centre
The former auditorium has had electrical work completed as well as new privacy curtains to allow it to fulfill its new role as a rehabilitation space.
Meeting/Education Room
The area of the former cafeteria has now become a multi-purpose meeting room used for committee meetings and various educational sessions.
Emergency Power Upgrade
35 years ago, the electrical system saw its last retrofit. Since then new technology has made leaps and bounds and the Willett is benefiting from a new emergency power switch guaranteed to keep the lights shining despite any surrounding power failure. New Roofing Membrane
Over the last twenty-five years, the roof that supports the sun-deck has done good service. However, in the last year it had begun to leak. Spinton Roofing has replaced the old poured-pitch roof with a new membrane system that will last for another 25 years. Accessible Washroom
The Urgent Care washroom beside Diagnostic Imaging is now being upgraded to make it fully accessible. Similar to many other hospitals, when the washroom was originally constructed, handicapped access was not a priority. Today we are focused on becoming more user-friendly. Flooring Replacement
This flooring replacement includes the Urgent Care Area, extends down the main hall and down the stairwell ensuring that staff, patients and visitors won’t be tripping over any rough surfaces.
Receiving Area
The loading/receiving area has been upgraded with a new awning and gates. This will help to keep those who have to unload or pick up materials out of the rain.
New Urgent Care Reception Area
In the Urgent Care area, there is a completely revamped reception desk with new counters and shelves topped off with improved security glass. The work was recently done by Liudavicius Construction of Paris.
Future plans
subject to approval
New Non-urgent Entrance
An existing loading dock will be transformed into a new entrance for non-urgent patients. A central registration area will be located just adjacent to the new doors. This is consistent with the Willett's focus on wellness and prevention and separates patients who might be contagious from others.
Urgent Care Waiting Room
The Waiting Room for Urgent Care at the Willett has not kept pace with the growing demand for services. Plans call for the creation of a larger waiting room for Urgent Care.
Urgent Care Triage Area
Privacy has received increased attention from governmental bodies recently. Increased privacy in the triage area in the Urgent Care area will help with this concern.
Turn-key Physician's Offices
Turnkey Physician’s Offices are available for renovations to provide office space & support for physicians, specialists and other healthcare providers. “Turnkey” offices allow practitioners to focus on caring for patients rather than setting up an office.
