Complex Continuing Care

Those admitted to the program are persons whose complex needs will best be met in a multidisciplinary hospital setting as they require skilled, technology-based care. This program is located at the Brantford General site of the Brant Community Healthcare System. There are three current program streams in the Complex Continuing Care Program. Medically Complex, Reactivation and Palliative Care.

Excellent Medical Care

  • Skilled Nursing
The skilled nursing staff at the BGH are registered professionals who make sure that your medical needs come first.

  • Medical Care
Medical care is provided in consultation with experts in the field. Geriatricians, Dr. Anne Braun and Dr. Willy Molloy are medical specialists with an interest in care of the elderly.

  • Family Conferences
Regular patient care conferences are held. The family and the resident are invited along with representatives from each discipline. The team discusses the resident's progress and suggestions or changes that may be made. Having all the disciplines available in one room is a great help when it comes to making important decisions.

Therapeutic Services

  • Occupation and Recreation Therapy
Many opportunities exist to join the excellent Occupation Therapy and Recreation Therapy Programs.  With a number of the Recreation Therapy events, community volunteers are eager to join in.

  • Child and Baby Visits
Some of the youngest volunteers play a very active part in the intergenerational program at the hospital.

  • Pet Therapy
Pets and their owners visit from time to time. Patients may also make arrangements for their own personal pets to come in to visit. In this photo, "Itchy," a Springer Spaniel and his owner Stewart Huisman visit with Evelin.

  • Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists help patients achieve their goals and monitor their progress through ongoing assessment.
