Patient's & Visitor's Information

Visiting Hours

At our Brantford General site, visiting hours are 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week (some exceptions apply). To protect our patients, please use the handwashing stations located at all our entrances.

At The Brantford General, the main entrance to the hospital is found off of Terrace Hill Street. During the evening hours, from 9:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., access to the Hospital is restricted to the Emergency Walk-In entrance only. A new Security Station is conveniently located just inside the door. Access to the Emergency Department remains open 24 hours a day. However, access to the main hospital will require a hospital identity card. If anyone needs access during this time, (i.e. critical care, labour and delivery, clergy, Tim Hortons) the security guard will give them a Visitor's Pass to the hospital after they have shown identification.
At The Willett, the hours of access to the facility are:
Monday to Friday - 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Weekends - 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The hours of the Urgent Care Centre are:
Monday to Friday - 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Weekends - 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Parking

At The Brantford General, family members assisting in care may wish to obtain an unlimited use weekly parking card from the Business Office, located at the Business Cashier. They are open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. After hours, cards are available at the Switchboard. The cost for a weekly unlimited use card is $45 (with a refundable deposit of $10). When picking up day surgery or in-patients, family members are encouraged to park in Lot C. The cost per visit without a weekly pass is $6. Nursing staff will provide a parking pass to the patient. We ask that you abide by the by-law and not park in the fire route located outside the main doors.

At The Willett, it is $3 per visit and the "frequent visitor" weekly rate is $20 per week and the monthly rate is $30.

Smoking

Our hospitals are a smoke-free environment. Smoking is prohibited throughout the building and within 9 metres of all entrances. There are only two designated smoking areas available at the Brantford General site. One is outside E Wing and the other is outside A Wing. The only area permissible to smoke in at the Willett is adjacent to the Parking Lot.

Scent Free Policy

Please be sensitive to others. The Brant Community Healthcare System promotes a scent free environment. Many people, patients, staff, physicians and volunteers are extremely sensitive to scented products as they can aggravate health problems such as asthma, allergies, respiratory conditions and migraine headaches. Wearing or using products with a noticeable scent such as perfume, colognes, aftershave, and body spray is not permitted within this facility.

Cell Phones

To eliminate the risk of interference with patient monitoring equipment from Radio Frequency Transmitting Devices, the use of Cellular phones within critical care areas (ICU/CCU, Labour & Delivery, Critical Care Nursery, Operating Suites, Emergency Department, etc.) is prohibited. All cellular phones must be turned off before entering the above areas. You may see staff using cell phones in these areas. These phones are low frequency, in-house phones that do not interfere with medical equipment.
