How will I feel after my surgery?

  • You may feel slightly nauseated after surgery.
  • You may feel light-headed, dizzy or sleepy for 24 hours after an anaesthetic.
  • You may have a slight temperature for two (2) days.
  • You may have hoarseness for a few days.
  • Expect some soreness in your neck.
  • You may have blood streaked saliva.
You need to call your doctor if…
  • A fever that persists beyond 2 days.
  • More than a small amount of bright red blood in your sputum.
  • Difficulty breathing.
  • Headache, nausea or vomiting after 24 hours.

If you cannot contact your doctor, go to the nearest Emergency Department.

  • Follow your surgeon’s order about when to start taking your routine medications.
